Start sharing pastes

Learn how to share texts up to 100,000 characters long.

Prerequisites

To start sharing pastes on Horizon, you need to have an account. If you don't have one yet, you can sign up.

Using the Pastebin

If you have long pieces of text that you want to share with someone, you can easily paste it into Horizon for an easily shareable link. Each paste will be assigned a unique URL that you can share with your peers for fast and easy access. When someone clicks on the paste link, they will be shown the contents of your paste.

For extra security and privacy, you can enable zero-knowledge end-to-end encryption on sensitive pastes. This means that the keys are generated right on your device and never sent to Horizon. Nobody, including Horizon operators, will physically be able to view the contents of your paste without the right secret key.

  1. Log into the Horizon Dashboard.
  2. Locate the button underneath the Horizon Multi Bar.
  3. In the dropdown below the button, click " Paste".
  4. The Multi Bar will switch into paste creation mode. Paste your long text into the Multi Bar and press enter, or the Submit button.

    5. Horizon Everest users have 10x the paste capacity compared to free users.

  5. Configure the options to your liking.

    6. For sensitive pastes, you can enable the "View-Once" and/or "Encrypt" options.

    "View-Once" will make the paste only viewable once. After the paste is viewed, it will be immediately and permanently deleted.

    "Encrypt" will encrypt the paste with an on-device securely generated key. The key will never be sent to Horizon, and only you and those you share the key with will be able to view the paste. In the final link, the key will be appended to the end of the URL as a fragment (text preceded by a hash symbol, e.g. https://bin.horizon.pics/identifier#key). Browsers will never send the fragment to the server, so the key will stay on-device at all times.

  6. Upon pasting, the Multi Bar will turn solid lavender in colour and an icon will appear for the new paste.

    7. Each paste is given a unique link that allows you to share it with anyone anywhere. Clicking on a successful paste will automatically open the paste in a new tab. If you want to copy the link, simply right click and click "Copy Link", or the equivalent button on your browser.
